January 6, 2007 - Citabria Flight to Millville, NJ

It's sunny and 70 degrees on this Saturday in early January in Maryland!  I think global warming is a farce, but I wouldn't argue with anybody about it on a day like today.

Bruce and I hopped into the Citabria and did a little aviating.  Visibility was good and I had the Canon Digital Rebel with me, so I got this good shot of Baltimore.

We headed east to Delaware and did some pattern work at the nice grass field at Smyrna.  Bruce did three landings and I did two.  It was grass roots flying at it's best.  Here we are on short final.  Bruce was flying and I just held the camera over his head.
That's us!
Turning crosswind.  I just looked down on those cars and thought, "you have no idea."
Our landing proficiency regained, we left Smyrna and continued east across the Delaware into south New Jersey.  This was our emergency landing strip during the bay transit.
There's a lot of marsh in south Jersey.
We flew into Millville, NJ and met four RV drivers for breakfast/lunch.  There are not one, but two, on field restaurants at Millville.  We ate at the Flight Line Cafe but I've heard the other restaurant is pretty good as well.  I had a great breakfast for $5; can't beat that.  The restaurant had lots of aviation memorabilia on the walls; Millville was a big P-47 training base during WWII.  There is also an aviation museum on the field but we didn't have time to visit.
A good aerial shot of Millville.  It has two long interesecting runways.
Heading west back to Maryland.  A good look at the southern New Jersey marshes.
We passed by the big Dover Downs Nascar speedway.
