July 16, 2006 - Citabria Flight

Today's plan was to fly the Citabria down to Bennett Field, near Salisbury, pick up my friend Jeff, then head over to Georgetown for some breakfast.  This is Georgetown -- also known as Sussex Airport.  Their airport restaurant is first-rate.
A bunch of guys were hand-polishing aluminum on this B-25, getting it ready for the big AirVenture fly-in.
Nearby were a bunch of jets parked on the grass.  A couple of Mig-15s.
A Mig-21.
Jeff checks out the Mig-21.  I wonder if it will ever fly again?

After checking out the Migs, we took off, bopped over to the coast, and headed south.  It was a hot summer days and the beaches were packed.
Cruising down the Atlantic seaboard.  It's hard to believe a month ago I was cruising down the Pacific seaboard  -- in the same plane!
Montego Bay where we usually vacation every summer.  We cut inland and flew south over the bay, so we wouldn't be going head to head with the banner towing planes.
The famous Ocean City boardwalk and flagship beach.
We turned north to fly parallel with the banner planes.
The big water park we usually go to.
I dropped Jeff off, then headed back to Essex Skypark.  Below is a grass airfield -- never landed there.
A familiar site -- approaching Essex Skypark with Baltimore in the background to the left.
