July 9, 2005 - Family Day at Essex Skypark (W48)

It's the second annual Family Day at my airport, Essex Skypark (W48), just northeast of Baltimore.  It was a nice day for it.
At the far end is an L-5 Army spotter plane.  Next is a Champ, which is the plane I learned to fly tailwheel in.  Next is a brand new SkyCam.  It's an experimental kitplane that the owner built over five years.  It is perfect for photography because the pilot sits way out in front in a bathtub like cockpit.  It has two Rotax 912 engines and can fly with just one operating so it is very reliable, which is nice when photographing terrain not suitable for emergency landings,
Another view of the flightline.
Lynnette and her sister Brenda enjoying Family Day.  They had a moonbounce, pony rides and snowcones for the kids; pit beef for the adults.
I ended up giving seven people rides in the Citabria.  I think about six planes gave rides to probably over 50 people total.  It was nice having so many planes over Essex Skypark at once; it's been a long time.
