Dayton 2007, Transit From

We got up early Sunday morning and headed back to Greene County airport.

Soon we were winging our way East.  Here, we are flying over the Ohio-West Virginia hill country where people live in the little valleys between the forested hills.  The roads are dirt.

Next we entered the mountain ridge country.  This ridge topped out at 4000 feet and had these giant windmills on top.

We transited the Shenandoah Valley and Blue Ridge Mountains.  John left us at his home base in Warrenton.  We continued heading east.  The plan was for me to drop Bruce off at Ocean City, Maryland.  I called up Patuxent River Approach and found out that the restrictred area covering the Chesapeake Bay was not active.  So I was able to fly over Point Lookout for the first time.

This rusty old derelict ship was in the middle of the bay.  I figure the Navy is using it for target practice.

On the east side of the bay, we ran into Smith Island.

We landed at Crisfield Airport to swap seats.

Angling northeast towards Ocean City.  This is one of the many rivers on the DelMaVa peninsula.

The bridge crossing over to Assateague Island.

Looking at Ocean City airport and Ocean City itself from the south.

Boater's paradise.

A nice golf course surrounding the airport.

I headed northwest towards home after dropping Bruce off at Ocean City.  I transitioned through Salisbury's Class D airspace because I wanted to check out Ennis Field -- a privately owned grass strip.  That's it, below.
