September 27, 2007 - All Grass Tour
Part Three

Leaving Ocean City, we stopped at Laurel, then flew up the Marshyhope river.

Looking back.

Tim took this shot of my Citabria.

Leaving the rivers, we flew over the "low-rent" estates around Easton and St. Michaels.  This was "estate of the day"

St. Michaels is at the upper left.

Feet wet as we cross the Eastern Bay towards Kent Island.

vvvvv

An Aegis Cruiser parked in the middle of the bay.  This ship has the capability to control the airspace of a 100 mile radius with it's radar and surface to air missiles.

We landed at Kentmoor Airfield which is a little airport community and features a restaurant a short walk away.  LIke Essex Skypark, Kentmoor was also liberated from the hated Washington D.C. ADIZ a month ago.

Lined up at Kentmoor.

Kentmoor is right on the bay.

The restaurant is located at the nearby marina.  Boaters come here for their version of the $100 hamburger.

In front of one house was this brand-new American Champion Aircraft Champ.  The owner had been enjoying this fine flying day himself.  He'd flown down to Campbell Airfield for the Soup on Sunday.

Another Kentmoor resident had a brand-spanking new Citabria in his hangar.  It only had 40 hours on it!

John leaving Kentmoor.  Wish my Citabria's belly was this clean!

Tom and Peggy taking off in DD.  Tom took the lead for this next leg to Massey Airfield.

Looking down at the Marina and restaurant.

This image gives some idea of the fantastic visibility.  You can see the entire Bay Bridge and even Baltimore beyond that.

More nice waterfront property.

On our last leg, there were five of us.  I was in the #5 position which was nice because I could watch the others in front of me.  The lead doesn't get to see much of what goes on behind him.

Mark and Dick are directly ahead.  Tom and Tim in the lower left hand corner.

Dick pulling hard.

Tom puilled into a river cul-de-sac and made a U-turn.  Here Tim is heading the opposite direction on the other side.

Entering the Chester River.

Tom eyes a grass field ahead.
We're having some fun now.

Everyone split up at Massey Airfield.  I climbed up to 2500 and took it easy flying back to Essex Skypark.  Here we are on final for 34 at Essex.  What a great day!  Doesn't get much better than this.
