July 31, 2004 - AirVenture 2004 Day Two |
||||
Bruce fell in love with this motorglider. I bet he owns one someday. |
||||
He does look pretty good in it.
|
||||
Now this would be seriously fun. A Trike on floats. Oh yeah.
One of the truly great planes in history: the Jenny. I believe this one was built from scratch. The builder did a fantastic job. It must be so much fun flying this around and taking it to fly-ins.
Another of the great planes in aviation history. I've seen B-17s before but not this nice. It was a showplane!
A Reno racer. They do a simulated Reno air race during the airshow with this Corsair, a Mustang, a Bearcat and a Sea Fury. I like it. It's not a bonifide race but it gives you the idea.
Now here is one serious fighter: the Air Force F-15 Eagle. I saw one over Iceland once from a Navy P-3 Orion. It was screaming down in a descending turn: incredible.
The center of AirVenture 2004.
Looking North. You can see the control tower on the left.
We always go over and check out the Ultralights. This is a 3/4(?) scale Jenny. Probably would be as much to fly around as the real thing.
