January 25, 2007 - Canopy Trimming |

The problem with the die grinder is that I wasn't able to get perfectly straight cuts. Some edge smoothing was required. Initially I tried the vixen file but that was too slow. I tried the pneumatic angle grinder with a 2" sanding disk but didn't have very good results with that. Then I tried the below and it worked pretty well. I could use it remove 1/8" off the side fairly quickly or just to smooth out an edge. Plus, I didn't need to go through the rigmarole of setting up the pneumatic tool and compressor and all that. | ||||||
I smoothed the front corners, hefted the canopy onto the fuse and tested
the fit.

A close-up. It was pretty obvious I needed to take more off the
corners.
