I sanded the epoxy-micro and then applied a second round of epoxy-micro.

On this second go-around, I used this homemade scrapper with a curved edge to smooth the micro. It worked really well. It'll save me lots of sanding.
While I'm waiting for the fairing to
dry, it's back to the oil filler door. I had cut out the opening in
the top cowl per the drawings. But I hadn't figured on the Camloc
recepticles. They are pretty good size and I hadn't left enough real
estate to rivet them
on.
So I cut out some triangular pieces and grafted them on to
the top cowl with 5-minute epoxy.

||||||
Then I applied a couple of fiberglass cloth layers to the inside. One nice thing about fiberglass components -- you fix just about any mistake. That's a Camloc recepticle below the door opening. Now you can understand why I had to increase the mounting area. |
||||||
I applied a second round of Micro to the cowl inlet ramps. I figure the passage way should be smooth so the incoming air won't be disrupted. I also covered a gap in each nostril inner cornner with fiberglass cloth. |
