April 7, 2007 - Wing Mounting Prep

My goal for this three day weekend was to fit the wings to the fuselage.  I started out by making the below drift pins.  I just took 5/16" hardware store bolts and using my grinding wheel to taper them.
Where did the fuselage go?
Oh, there it is.  To get ready for the wing-mating I moved it in the center of the basement.
It took me a couple of hours to rearrange the basement.  There's enough room to attach both wings, but just enough.  It's like one of those puzzles where there is only one open space and you have to move things around to end up with the required arrangement.
You're getting the grand tour of the basement.
I installed the aileron pushrods, bolted them to the aileron bellcrank, and wrapped rags around the inboard ends so they wouldn't scrape on the ribs.
I realized I hadn't made the control mechanism pushrod or the second elevator pushrod.  So I did that.
Before I could bolt the canopy to the canopy frame, I had to paint the top of the canopy skin flat black.
Looking good.
Worked a little on the glider canopy.  It needed a new piece of wood along the right side.
