A look at the Bermuda map might be helpful at this point. Vision of the Seas arrived from the east (right side of map) -- not sure how we ended up coming in from the east -- and cruised west past St. George's along Bermuda's northern edge to the Dockyard Wharf.

A good look at the St. Regis Bermuda Resort on the left and Fort St. Catherine on the right. The St. Regis is a four-star hotel. They say it's nice because it's away from cruise ship crowds. Fort St. Catherine, or Fort St. Catherine's (as it is usually referred to), is a coastal artillery fort at the North-East tip of St. George's Island, in the Imperial fortress colony of Bermuda. Successively redeveloped, the fort was used first by Bermudian Militia and then by regular Royal Artillery units from 1612 into the 20th century. Today it houses a museum. |

A ferry map of Bermuda's eastern half. We would be taking the ferry from the Dockyard Wharf to Hamilton.

There's a lot of stuff to do at the dockyard. We really didn't have much time in Bermuda, strangely enough. We didn't get off the ship until 2PM or so. We had to be back on board the next day by 11AM. Less than 24 hours! As a result, Lynnette and I didn't get a chance to do most of the things we wanted to do. Next time. We'll be back. |

Even though I was deployed to Bermuda for five months back in 83/84, I was busy working and never visited Hamilton. Lynnette did a couple of times I think.
On this trip, all we did was walk west down Front Street. It was very hot and there wasn't anything to see. Things were getting tense until we stopped at a market and got cold drinks and ice cream.
Here we are passing the Cabinet Building.

Things improved greatly after we gave up on Hamilton and took a cab to Elbow Beach which is in the middle of the island, on the south coast. Looking down at Elbow Beach. |

After a couple of hours on the beach we took a quick cab ride to the "Lost in the Triangle" restaurant.

| We had a very nice dinner here. I had Bermuda's famous fried fish sandwich. The mouthwatering Bermuda Fish Sandwich consists of golden-brown fried fish fillet, flaky and perfectly cooked, nestled between two slices of soft raisin bread. A creamy homemade sauce adds a tangy touch. | ||||||

Using our ferry tokens, we took a wild public bus ride back to the dockyard wharf, to conclude a successful day in Bermuda.
