Airshow

The F-35's routine was awesome.  That single engine puts out some serious thrust (and noise).

The F-35 did a descending turn in a way I've never seen before.  I think the computer allows the pilot to fly the jet on the edge of the envelope in a way that manual control never could.

The Redline Team put on an excellent show.

Ken Reider and son Austin put on quite a show.  Look how close the two RV-8s are!  Their wings are overlapping -- a lot closer than the formation flying I'm used to.

The Redline airshow including some ground pyrotechnicals.

Both RV-8s are doing aileron rolls in close trail.

I rarely use my telephoto lens but it is great for shooting airshows.

Nice!

The showpass finale;  looking good!

It's pretty amazing a show like this is done using homebuilts.

Our seats were right at show center.

Then it was time for the Viper Demo F-16 to fly.  The F-16 was sporting a "throwback" paintjob -- how the protoype YF-16 looked when it flew against the YF-17 50 years ago.  50 years ago!

While no jet does a bad airshow, I must say that the F-16 show looked dated and tired compared to the F-35.
