Florida Vacay- April 2019 - Beach and Bars
Our lodging for the next week.  Bruce and Ellen have been down here for over a month.
   
It's easy to imagine this part of Florida as being all jungle not so long ago.
   
Just when you think you've seen it all.  A little free library at the end of the road.  I checked out the selection; it contained some good stuff!

Lynnette and I walked to the beach to check it out.
   
A massive formation of pelicans flew overhead.
   
Later, Bruce drove me around and showed me the radio-controlled airplane and glider fields.  First the RC field.
   
Nobody was flying today though.
   
Then we checked out the glider field owned by the Treasure Coast Soaring Club.
   
Nice wide grass runway; perfect for gliders.
   
A dusty homebuilt Mustang replica sits in the gigantic hangar.
   
All this touring of RC and Glider fields made us hungary so we met the girls at the Riverside Cafe for lunch.
   
The Riverside Cafe was popular with the pelicans as well.

Later in the week we spent a day at the beach.
   
There must have been heavy weather prior to our visit, because a lot of debris had washed onto the beach.
   
Yes, this beats Maryland in early April!
   
One evening we drove down to the Vero Beach Airport (KVRB) to have dinner at C.J. Cannon's which is the on-field restaurant.
   

I must say it is the finest airport restaurant I have ever eaten at. The restaurant was cozy, quiet with lots of airport memorabilia. The food was superb; really a cut above. I had the NY Strip, Bruce and Ellen the filet mignon, and Lynnette Livers and Onion. All were great! Our waitress was the daughter of the owner and very friendly. I'd love to fly in here and try out their breakfast/lunch. If I lived and flew around here, I'd be flying in all the time!
