October 31, 2007 - Running wires through Baggage Bulkhead

I'm mounting my intercom jacks at the top of the baggage bulkhead, so I had to figure a way to run the wires up to the panel.  I had made the mistake of riveting my baggage and aft seat floors already, so I was pretty much stuck to running the wires through the center "tunnel".  Which was OK, but I had no holes through the bottom baggage bulkhead to run them through.  I scratched my head for awhile, looked at Dan Checkoway's web site, and in the end, decided to put holes where he did.  I was able to drill a 5/8" hole on each side fairly easily with my angle drill bit and a Unibit.

I mounted the jacks in the upper baggage bulkhead using the "floating" washers that came with the jacks.

I decided to run and run my signal wires -- which included the intercom wires -- on the right side of the tunnel, and the power wires -- including strobe -- on the left side.

I ran the two strobe shielded wire bundles that go to the wings through the tunnel hole on the left.  It was a tight fit.

Thankfully, the lower bulkhead at the rear seat area already had 5/8" holes on each side, so I continued the intercom and strobe wires forward.  In this picture, you can see the strobe shielded wire bundles branching off to the left and right to go out to the wing tips.  You can also see two push-to-talk wires braching out on each side, to go to the pilots and passenger sticks, respectively.

This picture shows the strobe shielded wire bundle that end in Molex connects near the strobe power supply bracket.

I'm sort of starting at the extremities and working my way forward.  So at this point, the firewall area is a mess.
