Motivation

This Triplane was just completed over in the United Kingdom in the last couple of years.   Most of the actually Triplanes had a green streaked paint job like this one.

Great video of the Baron's last flight

The recently completed Triplane at the Golden Age Air Museum in Bethel, Pennsylvania.

The paint scheme is of Lothar von Richthofen, the Baron's younger brother, and also an ace.

This Triplane has a rotary engine; same as the original.

Both these Triplanes are only a year old and reside in Connecticut.

I believe this Triplane resides in New Zealand.

All these Triplanes are in New Zealand.

When I first saw this picture, I thought it was a photo-shop hoax.  I later found out it is real!

Nice echelon!

I took a picture of this Triplane at the Air Force Museum, Dayton, Ohio at the bi-annual World War One Rendezvous.

There were some amazing Radio-Controlled models at the Rendezvous including this Triplane.

Look at that detail!  Amazing.

This Triplane belongs to the Planes of Fame Air Museum at Chino, California.  It's airworthy and it flies.

All of the Triplanes bottoms were sky blue.  Except the Baron's, of course.

These three Triplanes belong to the Military Aviation Museum down in Virginia Beach, Virginia.  (Or did.   In July 2013 the owner put his collection up for sale)

Three Triplanes at one of the Dawn Patrol Rendezvous they have every two years at the Air Force Museum in Dayton, Ohio.

Colorado Triplane.  I saw this one at AirVenture.  It had flown out from Colorado, along with a DR-7 and a DR-8.

I doubt if Richtofen's Triplane was as glossy red as this one, but it still looks great.

And who could forget Ernst Kessler's black triplane in the movie "The Great Waldo Pepper"?
