February 18, 2015 - Glue Upper Wing Spar Together |
||||||
Here I am glueing the last spar together: the upper wing. I've got my little dixie cup of T-88 epoxy and popsicle stick.
For each of the 18 spar spacers -- the 1/8" thick plywood piece that goes in between the spar ladders -- I have to coat eight edges with epoxy: each spacer edge, the vertical area on the spar ladders, the vertical gusset sides, and then again on the spacers where the gussets touch. It's time consuming, taking a couple of hours.

Once everything is glued, I screw down all of the spar table clamps. Then let dry for 24 hours.
A day later, I remove the clamps. A sharp eye will notice I have the spar resting on top of a spar plate.
