February 23, 2004 - Rear Spar

 

This was the first riveting of the project. This elevator hinge consists of two parts, with a bushing in between, and gets riveted together. I used the Main Squeeze to rivet it. I learned right away to clamp the work down in the vise before riveting.
After riveting the hinge, I cleco it to the rear spar and reinforcers. Then final drill.
Now I am ready to rivet the rear spar and reinforcers. Again, I find it is necessary to clamp the assembly to the vice before riveting with the Main Squeeze.
