February 12, 2004 - Left HS

Here are the Left HS spars and ribs clecoed together. First you cleco together, then match drill, which is drilling the two pieces together so that they align perfectly. The RV-7 is one of Van's newest kits and almost all parts are pre-drilled, perfectly, thanks to computer technology. That said, the holes are big enough to take a cleco, but not big enough for the rivets, so we the builders get to "match", or "final" drill each one.

With the spars and rib frame clecoed together, the next step is to cleco on the skin! Cool. The first indication that this will be a plane someday!
Looks like a porcupine. At this point, the whole thing seemed like a giant, adult erector-set!
