July 15, 2015 - Alaskan Cruise - Glacier Bay

After cruising all night, we woke up to find ourself in Glacier Bay National Park and Preserve.

I think this is the Margerie Glacier.

Margerie Glacier extends upstream for a length of 21 miles from Tarr Inlet to its source on the southern slopes of Mount Root.  The width of the glacier is about 1 mile and the total height at its terminus is about 350 feet including 100 feet that is underwater.

To the right, the ice is gone and just its carved-out trail remains.

The ship came right up to to the Glacier.

People at the stern checking out the glacier.

The glacier was impressive.

Rare blue sky is visible as we pull out of the fjord.

You can only see this area from the sea and the air.  And today just the sea.
