July 4, 2013 - Fun Flight

| Yes! First day of a four-day weekend. Weather was excellent so Bruce and I decided to go on a fun flight this Fourth of July. |

There was a low scattered layer over the Eastern Shore. More interesting than a clear blue sky.

| Passing by Kentmorr Airpark, a little airport community on Kent Island. I had heard about a Cirrus that went off the runway a week or so ago. I was surprised to see it still there. |

|
The NTSB preliminary report came out. He was trying a soft field takeoff, lost control and ended up with a collapsed gear on the field adjacent the runway. Bummer.

| The Eastern shore was very scenic with green grass and trees, blue skies and water, and white clouds. |

| We headed southeast towards Wallops Island where I had never flown before. These are houses with long docks facing the west side of Wallops Island. |

The airspace to the south belongs to NASA. It's restricted. Understandable since they launch rockets out over the ocean.

| We headed north and flew up the Assateague Island beach. |
| |
 |
|
| We spotted some of the famous wild ponies. |
| |
 |
|
| The southern half of the seashore was deserted. |
| |
 |
|
|
Then we came to the Over-Sand Vehicle Zone. People drive their RV and SUVs on the sand, set up the surf-fishing poles, lawn chairs and beer coolers and celebrate the Fourth.

| We were getting hungry so we decided to fly to Cape May airport for lunch at their on-field restaurant. Here, we approach Cape Lewes prior to hopping over the entrance to the Delaware Bay to Cape May. |

And it was. We had a nice lunch there. Here, our planes parked in front of the museum.
Then we headed for home.
