AirVenture 2011 - Interesting Airplanes
Well, this RV-12 gets my most unusual RV paintjob award. It takes a self-confident man to fly a plane painted like this. Actually, I wasn't surprised to find out later that a woman pilot owns and flys this plane.
Four Little Toot homebuilt biplanes,
designed by George Meyer.
EAA recently built this 1911 Bleriott XL replica. Louis Bleriott was the first man to fly the English channel in this plane. The latest Sport Aviation has a nice story on it. Check out that itty-bitty engine!
One of my favorite things about
AirVenture is that it is not usual to look up in the sky and see sixteen
planes flying overhead in formation.
I liked the outdoor camping thing going on at the Husky booth.
The factory model was here but no homebuilt Xenos motorgliders this year. Bruce should have his done for AirVenture 2012 though.
I have to give Kodiak turboprop Bushplane paintjob of the show award. Like the Stripes!
Yes, it's the new Boeing 787 Dreamliner.
I didn't think I'd get to see it, but I was loading up the
RV to depart and I saw the Dreamliner fly down the runway at 1000 feet or
so. | ||||||
Someone else took this picture -- I
was in the air heading for home by the time they got the 787 parked in the
Square. | ||||||
