I hadn't polished the RV in years and it showed. Bruce and I were going to Sun 'n Run and I wanted the RV to look good so I mustered up some will power and started polishing. Thirty no-nonsense man-hours later, the RV was polished and looking good. Actually, once I got into it, and developed some momentum, it wasn't so bad. It's kind of addicting. It was a good time of the year to do it -- not too cold, but not too hot. Having put so much effort into it, I wanted my mirror-like finish to last as long as possible, so I asked Lynnette to make me some covers to protect the aluminum from dust and waterdrops. You can buy them but they are very expensive. Lynnette came out to the Skypark, set her sewing machine up in the hangar, and went to work. Now the RV is completely covered when not outside flying about. Here is an action shot of Lynnette sewing the covers. Nowhere she'd rather be than in a dark, dingy hangar on a nice spring day! |

Simultaneously, Bruce had a wing-hanging party for his newly restored and painted RV-3. Looking good! Bruce's Dad served on the USS Card -- an escort carrier -- during WWII, hunting German U-boats in the Atlantic.
