April 24, 2014 - SuperChipmunk Restoration Project |
||||||
We had our monthly EAA Chapter 571 meeting at Mark M.'s hangar to check out his Super Chipmunk restoration project. He is close to completion and wanted the Chapter members to go over the airplane looking for any discrepancies. All photos courtesy of Bruce R. |

Yours truly inspecting the engine.
|
||||||
Yours truly admiring the wood vaneer panel which is some kind of nice!
Mark demonstrating his shrinker/expander tool. He also has an English Wheel which he demonstrated. Mark did amazing work for this project restoring aluminum panels and fairings and in some cases, fabricating them from scratch.
The area aft of the firewall was spacious. This enabled easy access to the battery and contactor wiring. I'm envious. That is not the case on my RV.
Nice job on the baffles!

Mark's outstanding workmanship on this plane was evident everywhere you looked. Mark successfully flew the Super Chipmunk a few weeks later.
