May 30, 2011 - Campbell Field Soup On Sunday |

Campbell Field (9VG) was having a Soup On Sunday today. This is
the first one this year, and the weather was good, so Bruce and I decided
to fly our aerial fleet down there.
First stop was at Ridgely Airport to get some gas. |

I had a special rider today -- my
daughter Maggie! |

|
| The RV is a little
faster than the Cub so after flying alongside Bruce for a short while at
70 mph, we went on ahead and did some sightseeing. We flew on top of
the broken layer of clouds for awhile and then descended down and flew
along the west side of the Eastern Shore which is very scenic. |

up to a deserted sand bar and spend a pleasant day. |

There were very few planes at
Campbell Field when when we arrived which surprised me. More came in
afterwards but still not as many as I anticipated. Maybe the price
of AvGas is keeping pilots from flying? |

| Bruce arrived
about 30 minutes after us. Everybody watched him land and were
amazed at his short landing -- he used maybe 150 feet of runway. |

After leaving Campbell Field, we went
over to the Barrier Islands on the Atlantic Ocean side. |

| There were people
aboard the grounded boat pictured below. Just boaters who were
spending the day on the island. |

| It was kind of
hazy further north. You can hardly see the Chesapeake Bay Bridge
below. |
|
 |
|
| Back at Essex, I
gave Maggie's boyfriend Matt his first ride in a light airplane. He
liked it. |
