April 8, 2006 - Lower Baggage Bulkhead |
||||||
I'm actually starting something new. This is the lower baggage bulkhead. I screwed the bottom row down, taped the top to hold it up, and then match-drilled the F-706 bulkhead, using the baggage bulkhead -- which was pre-drilled -- as a template.
All the screw holes are drilled.
|
||||||
It's almost impossible to screw the screw into the nutplates. So I taped all the baggage bulkhead nutplates before riveting them to the F-706 bulkhead.
Then I drilled holes for the nutplates into the F-706 bulkhead and
countersunk them
|
||||||
The view from the back side. Being able to screw the screw into the nutplate easily -- because I had taped them beforehead -- made this job so much easier.
Finally, I riveted the nutplates to the F-706 bulkhead. This is how it looks from the back side.
I wanted to make sure everything fit, so I screwed the lower baggage bulkhead to the F-706 bulkhead. It fit perfectly and screwed down tight.
Looking good! The next item will be to fashion the upper baggage
bulkhead. But it probably won't be tomorrow since the weather is
looking good and I'll probably be flying and soaring!
