August 31, 2006 - More Cabin Frame

I put the cabin frame itself over the mounting brackets and was surprised to find that the cabin frame was a little narrow at the base.  When I built the thing, the distance was perfect.  I guess it shrunk a little during the riveting.  It's not bad, though.  I think when I bolt the cabin frame to the brackets, the bolts will pull the cabin frame open a little.

Next I worked on the bracket that runs from the cabin frame to the baggage bulkhead.

I drilled the upper skin to the support braccket and a thick spacer that you can't see here.
Then I match-drilled the forward part of the support bracket to the cabin frame bracket and the little side angles that I had previously fashioned.
Using the outer skin as a template, I drilled the forward holes to #30.
Then I drilled the inner holes to #12 and installed the #12 bolts.  I had absolutely no luck trying to get the nuts started with just my fingers through the rear access hole.
Then I tried my hingemate tool for the first time and it worked beautifully!  I had ordered this and some other similar type tools tool some time ago because I hate wasting time trying to get washers and nuts on hard to get to bolts.  It can take minutes to do each one by hand, or using a tool like this, seconds.
