August 24, 2005 - Aft Fuselage

My basement was in complete disarray so I spent an hour and cleaned it up.  I decided to rearrange things a little.  The wings used to be in this "wing" of the basement but I moved them to another area.  I'll use this area to build the "canoe" as they say.  The lighting is much better than anywhere else in the basement.
I moved a lot of the finished components, plus fuselage components into the library wing of the basement.  Let's see, there's a rudder, two fuel tanks, two wing tips, a firewall, all the bulkheads, ...

I have a lot of books as you can see.  Until I started this RV project, for most of my adult life I read quite a bit.  I'd read between 30-40 books a year, mostly non-fiction.  But I've deliberately gave that up when I started the RV.  I havn't given up reading completely -- I devour all the airplane magazines I get:  Sport Aviation, AOPA Pilot, Kitplanes, General Aviation News, and RVator.
I started laying out things for the aft fuselage.   Pictured below is the J-angle stock for longerons in the aft fuselage.  I measured them out for cutting.
I gathered the components for the first steps.  I can tell this part is going to be a bear -- I need to look at some other people's web sites before I start.
