February 11, 2009 - Canopy and Cowl |
||||||
The spacing between my forward skin and canopy skin was a little tight so I bought the canopy home and trimmed the canopy skin about 1/16". I also did a little more filling and sanding.
I took this opportunity to install
the canopy handle mounting block. I match-drilled the block using
the cabin frame -- holes were drilled previously -- as a template.
It was much easier doing this in the basement than it would have been on
the airplane. I still need to drill a hole in the handle end for a
cotter
pin.

Aft, looking forward. | ||||||
I had tried installing these Sunday
only to discoverer they interfered with the control mechanism. So I
bought them home and did a little
trimming.
|
||||||
I finally got around to installing the camlocs back into the top and bottom cowls. This took a few hours, actually. There's 48 or so of them.
The cowls don't photograph well because of the gloss black. |
