I headed out to the airport this Sunday morning with the canopy in the back of the van. Like yesterday, it was cold, but this time it was also very windy. No way I would have risked trailering the fuselage over the Key Bridge on a windy day like today. | ||||||
Out at the airport, I kept the hangar
doors closed. Sheltered from the wind, it wasn't too bad
inside. The big metal doors were really clanging and banging
though.
I finally got around to installing
the gussets on the forward corners of the center spar. I had to do a
little filing around the spar bolt holes to be able to get bolts
through. I held the camera upside down to get this
shot.

Not a very good shot from the
outside, but you get the idea. Five AN-3 bolts hold the gusset to
the side of the
fuselage.
I also installed washers and nuts on
the vertical and horizontal stabilizer
bolts.
