Sun 'N Fun - Other Cool Planes |
||||||
P-39 Aircobra in Soviet markings. The engine on this airplane is behind the cockpit.
A big British Sea Fury.
|
||||||
A British Lysander. | ||||||
Ugliest plane award winner. Also known as the flying rowboat.
|
||||||
A German World War I Eindecker replica. I've always liked this plane; I think it would be so cool to show up at a fly-in in one.
Another nice looking World War I replica.
The star of the show. Not me, the P-38, Glacier Girl. This is the P-38 they dug out of the ice up in Greenland. Took them ten years I think to dig it up and another ten years to restore it. Cost $20 million. But I must say, they did a fantastic job on it. It's magnificent.
Another view.

Scott Hinton is the only one who is allowed to fly it, but he really flew it aggressively at Sun 'N Fun. Again, it was the star of the show.
One of my favorite warbirds, the A-10 Warthog. Unfortunately, they
didn't fly a routine in the airshow with it.
|
||||||
An L-39 jet. You see quite a few of these around these days. It burns one to two gallons of fuel a minute, so it's gonna cost you to fly it, though.
The big iron, including an F-4 Phanton. I didn't think any of those were still flying but here it was.
A Bunker Jungmeister. | ||||||
A Corben Baby Ace! Much nicer than ours.
The queen of the homebuilts: a Lancair. Looks fast, and it is fast. Behind it is an RV that bent his metal prop leaning on his brakes while taxiing. Major bummer.
