March 25, 2007 - Deer Attack

I declare today -- Sunday -- the "first day of genuine Spring".  It was sunny, warm -- after suffering through winter, 55 degrees is warm -- and the winds were light.  If you own a plane and don't go flying today, you've got to ask yourself some serious questions.  It took me ten minutes to get through to the Leesburg Flight Service Station to file my ADIZ flight plan.  The briefer told me everyone and their brother were flying today.

The Citabria is raring to go.  It was cool enough to make the engine happy.  I climbed out like a rocket ship --- 1000 feet per minute!   Editor note:  Big deal, the RV will climb at twice that rate -- in the summertime.

I had a great flight, but nothing that was photographical.  Heading home in the late afternoon, I started seeing large flocks of deer.  I decided to have a little fun with this one flock.  Deer in sight, dead ahead.  I'm going in ...
Getting closer.  I think they see (hear) me.
Now, they're definately concerned -- but don't now what to do.
Run away!  Run away!
