March 29, 2007 - Riveted Channel Frame

I had a motivation problem during the week and took a couple of nights off from the project.  But tonight I got back on the job.  It was time to rivet the canopy channel frames together with their splice plate.  I looked at the drawings for the rivet call-outs and saw that they called for flush 4-4s.  Whoops.  Gotta do some countersinking.  I did that.
Then I put the assembly in the vise and started riveting with the Main Squeeze.  It was easy riveting.
The key to riveting is securing the work firmly and having good access.  When you have those two things, riveting is easy and comes out great.
All done.  I'll have to touch up the riveted area with the Hammered silver.
