February 18, 2007 - Drilled Canopy Frames

After a lot of contemplating, twisting, and banging, I had the canopy frames as good as I could get them.  I clamped them lightly to the roll bar, put the canopy on, clamped it down, then unclamped the channel frames and pushed them up against the canopy.  When I was happy with the fit, I clamped the channel frames tightly to the roll bar, then removed the canopy.  This was it.  I went for it and match-drilled the undrilled channel frame, using the outer temporary splice plate as a template.
Next I clamped the side weldments to the channel frame and match-drilled it, using the side weldment as a template.

It may not seem like much but the drilling of the channel frame was a big step.  It took a lot of trial-fitting to get to this point.
While I was drilling the channel frames, I put my Dad to work edge-smoothing the panel.
