Staniel Cay to Exuma Intl. Airport - Georgetown inthe Exumas

We departed Staniel Cay and headed southeast Exuma International Airport on Grand Exuma.

There's the airport.

It was a short, easy flight from Staniel Cay to Exuma International Airport near George Town, Grand Exuma. They don't have a control tower but someone does monitor their frequency and provide advisory services: wind, traffic in area, etc. Most airports in the Bahamas use 122.8 -- and you can hear all of them no matter where you are -- but Exuma Intl used 118.0.

Check out that plane tied down near us.  We were told it was tied down when a hurricane came through.

We were unpacking the RVwhen this big Gulfstream jet landed owned by the U.S. Government.  It was met by the two vehicles seen to the left.  A bunch of military guys in uniform got off, hopped into the van, and took off.  I'm sure they were attending a very valuable conference and that it just had to be down here in Great Exuma where there is so much US military infrastructure.   They cancelled the Blue Angels 2013 season but they can still do this.  Your taxpayers dollars at work.

Heading for the FBO building.  The FBO was Odyssey Aviation and they were really a first class operation.

Out in front of Odyssey Aviation.  Great FBO!

We took a cab to our hotel which was a fairly good distance from the airport. The hotel had a pool, nice beach, restaurant/bar. We did our usual thing -- drinking Kaliks by the pool and beach.   Here is the pool with the beach visisble in the background.

Life is tough in the Bahamas.

Jack never tires of that "I'm on top of the world!" thing.

Relaxing on the beach with a Captain Morgan & Coke.  I have my iPod hooked up to Jack's Power Pill speaker gizmo, so I'm listening to my favorite tunes.

Jack had this thing about wading out into the water.  He eventually walked out to that spit way off in the distance.  The water never went above his knees.

Not bad.

Since we weren't overly impressed with the hotel restaurant, Jack asked the girl at the hotel desk for a recommendation of a good local place to eat.  She said there were a place called the "Outdecker" down the road about a half-mile.  So we headed down the road.  It wasn't very well lit and it sure didn't look like there was much civilization up ahead, but then we came to his big dirt parking lot with a bunch of food vendor places.  Once of them had a big deck area so we decided this must be the "Outdecker".  The kitchen was as seen below:  a big barbeque pit!  There was also a bar on the deck where Kaliks could be had.

When we first got there, we were the only ones.  But amazingly, the place soon filled up with tourists like us.  This was the place to have dinner, evidently.  The food was great.

You never know what is going to happen on a trip like this.
