April 26, 2007 - Fuel Tank Bracket

After thinking on it for awhile, I came up with a plan for how to drill the fuel tank angle.  First I marked 1/2" around the angle edge which the hole has to be outside of.  Then I used my angle drill with a #40 bit and drilled a hole from the Aft side.  That way I could start the hole in the center of the bracket notch as best I could.  You'll see what I mean a few pictures down.
Once I had the #40 starter hole, it was easy to use the Unibit to open the hole up so that I could use the 1/4" bit.  Hole is drilled with plenty of edge distance all around.
Here I have a mirror on the aft side and you can see how the hole is on the inside of the bracket notch.  I was pleased with how both sides came out.  Some of my better work.

With bolts in the forward and rear spars, the wings really feel solid on the fuse.  You just move the wing tip slightly and the entire plane moves.
In preparation for hooking up the flaps, I had to re-install all the flap actuator components.  It's been so long so I put it in that I had to look at the drawings to remember how it goes together.
Lynnette helped me put on the ailerons.
